Andreassen, 17, took silver in the sprint on Saturday when Finland’s Eevi-Inkeri Tossavainen won. On Monday, Andreassen was one of the biggest favorites and in a match against Sweden’s Lisa Eriksson she won the gold medal.
The great Norwegian talent has two medals in his first two exercises at his first World Juniors.
Andreassen and Eriksson took a very good lead over the rest of the competitors at the halfway mark. The duo stayed together for a long time, but four kilometers from the finish, Andreassen took a few seconds ahead of Eriksson, which the Swede could not take back.
Swedish money
The distance to the finish line was 21 seconds. Eriksson resisted and got the silver medal. Eva Ingebrigtsen was in contention for the bronze medal towards the end, but had to lose. He went to Tossavainen.
Ingebrigtsen was number eight, while Anniken Sand finished in tenth place. Tuva Brusveen-Jensen finished eleventh, 1.48 minutes behind Andreassen.
Andreassen placed himself at the front of the pack early on and had several good candidates with him. After just over five kilometers a group of five riders separated a little from the rest of the peloton, but no one could keep up with the strong and tight duo when the pace was set.
the asshole
After Andreassen and Eriksson got the hatch, it was Andreassen who took big pieces. Four kilometers from the finish, Andreassen took his chance and passed to Eriksson. The Swede could not respond to the attack and had 17 seconds to Andreassen with 2.5 kilometers to go.
She had no chance of victory, but got the Swedish silver. Thursday, 10 kilometers of free technique await you in Whistler.
