– Just like last year, we start with a match against the Canadiens. They are a team that likes to play very fast and has a good block defense system, so we will have to try to keep their passer away from the net and play outside of this system as much as possible. Play wisely and make the right decisions in attack, because, as I said, their block is very well organized, so we have to find the right solutions to score points – said the coach.
Poland – Canada: where to watch the match on May 30?
The 14-man squad for the first tournament does not include team leader Joanna Wołosz. The coach gave her some rest after a grueling season in Italy. Malwina Smarzek is absent from the team, and Zuzanna Górecka and Klaudia Alagierska-Szczepaniak are recovering from serious knee injuries. These are huge vulnerabilities and it will be difficult to fill these gaps.
In Turkey, the white and red team – in addition to Canada, which it beat 3-1 in the United States last year – will compete with Italy, Thailand and Serbia. You have to earn points for the opening, because it can be much harder to get them in the following days. Of course, the Asian women are rebuilding, but it is always an uncomfortable style and unpredictability that can be a problem.
In preparation for the NL, the Polish national team beat France twice, 4-0. The coaches agreed that if the score was 3-0, an extra set would be played.
