– Cold weather and alcohol are a scary combination, and we’re worried some party planners don’t take that into account, says Dag Hovden, department head at Valle and Bykle police station in Dagbladet.
At the start of Easter week, he felt compelled to appear in the local newspaper Agderposten to warn against illegal parties at Easter Mountain.
The background is the experience of such a party in 2018, when 1,200 paying guests showed up at Breiveskaret to enjoy the booze brought.
– It ended with 15 people needing medical attention due to poisoning and hypothermia. In a small town like ours, emergency medical services were blocked here for several hours, says Hovden.
The organizer supports the warning
The warning comes after police noticed the event will take place again.
The party with friends “PĂ„sketuren” traditionally takes place at Hovden in Setesdalen during Easter week, as it has been since 2008.
This year, it is certainly not taking place outdoors, but at the Fjellgarden Hovden, which has a liquor license.
– This year it’s in a slightly smaller version, where we invited good old participants to a kind of reunion. It will be a nice group with around 200 guests, and everything will be taken care of, co-organizer Ole Heffermehl tells Dagbladet.
