The last day of the Canoe World Championships in Duisburg was a great success for us. In a short time, Poland increased its medal count by three more “discs”.
On Sunday noon, Poland added another precious metal “disk” to its medals. First to cheer was Dominika Putto, who competed in the non-Olympic K1 200 meter competition and finished the final in third place.
The Pole clocked 40.367. Gold was won by Lisa Carrington (New Zealand) and silver by her compatriot Yale Steinepreis.
– I am very happy. As I said, I will be happy with every medal. For four years, no medals were won in this competition. I criticized the European Games – said the bronze medalist in an interview with TVP Sport.

Later, Martyna Klatt and Helena Wiśniewska came into action, who won gold on Friday in K2 over 200 meters. In turn, Sunday, over a distance of 500 meters, they won silver (1:40.824) and qualified for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. In this Olympic competition, the Poles had to recognize the superiority of the Danes – Frederikke Hauge Matthiesen and Emmie Aastrand Jorgensen.
We also did very well in the mixed C2 500m. The duo Wiktor Głazunow and Sylwia Szczerbińska won silver at the World Kayaking Championships in Duisburg (1:46.219). The fastest to cross the finish line were two Canadians (Katie Vincent and Connor Fitzpatrick), and in third place were two Italians – Olympia Della Giustina and Daniele Santini.
It should be added that Poland took eighth place in the medal standings. Our achievements included one gold puck, five silver and three bronze “pucks”. First place for Germany, second for China and Canada finished on the podium.
