Coaches Lubomir Witoszek and Artur Ślusarczyk announced the final composition of the Polish national team for the upcoming World Academic Championships. There are up to seven UKH Unia Oświęcim players in the squad.
Two goalkeepers from Oświęcim were among those nominated. We are talking about Filip Płonka and Gabriel Kaczkowski. There are also two Union UKH defenders – Piotr Kot and Jakub Najsarek.
The attacking list includes three other players from the white and blue club – Szymon Fus, Wasilij Jerasow and Patryk Kusak. Nor can we forget Michał Kusak. He is a Union pupil who successfully manages beyond our southern border.
Currently, Michał Kusak represents the colors of HC Energie Karlovy Vary U-20 and, of course, he was also among the chosen ones for the Academic World Championships. Union’s Wojciech Zając is on the reserve list.
The World Academic Ice Hockey Championships will be held in Romania. The 2023 World Cup of University Hockey will be organized by the Romanian Carta. The tournament will take place from 14 to 19 April.
The eight national teams have been divided into two groups. The Poles will face the Czech Republic in the qualifying phase (April 14, time. 9:30 a.m.), Canada (April 15, time. 13) and Romania (April 16, time. 4:30 p.m.). In the second group, fate brought together the USA, Slovakia, Sweden and Hungary.
