Iga Świątek became the winner of the WTA 500 competition on clay in Stuttgart on Sunday. Where is the world ranking after the indoor event in Germany?
On Sunday there was a duel between two of the best tennis players in the world today. Iga Świątek outperformed Aryna Sabalenka for the second time in a row in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final and won the 13th tour title. Thus, the 21-year-old kept the 470 points earned last season.
Since last year was repeated in Stuttgart, the distance between Świątek and Sabalenka has not changed. From then on, the Pole maintained an advantage of 2084 points over the second in the Belarusian WTA ranking. From now on, the two ladies will go to Madrid, where they can improve their performances. In the previous season, our tennis player did not compete here, and the Minsk player was eliminated in the first phase.
The place on the WTA ranking podium was retained by the American Jessica Pegula, who did not play in Stuttgart. Ons Jabeur consolidates its fourth position. The Tunisian was Świątek’s semi-final rival but suffered an injury and had to forfeit. Now she has the difficult task of defending her title and her 1000 points in Madrid. There was no change in the Top 10 on Monday.
