The story of the dog standing on a mountain ledge at Lisle Storenut in Agder took on a new twist on Tuesday evening.
A splicing campaign generated over NOK 350,000 within hours to save the dog.
All the money raised goes towards a helicopter to rescue the dog in the mountains, the splice explains.
On Tuesday, a rescue operation was underway to bring the dog down the mountain. Police were notified of the incident at 1:30 p.m.
The campaign has finally come to an end and police are asking people to stay away from the dangerous and landslide-prone area.
Part of the danger is that the blade can break off and fall off, police say. They worked on an alternate plan to get the dog out.
– We are on site and in contact with the owner of the dog. It is considered too dangerous to penetrate the skin both above and below, indicates the police headquarters of Agder.
The dog will therefore not be slaughtered on Tuesday.
– Local people said it was possible he could go down on his own. If this does not happen, we will reassess tomorrow, says Tor Operations Manager Einar Gausdal.
There was also talk of euthanizing the dog. Gausdal hopes it doesn’t end there, but says it could become a hot topic if police don’t find other solutions.
Gausdal is unfamiliar with the splice when TV 2 calls Tuesday night. He says the police don’t deal with aviation.
– We have to assume that they are contacting the right authorities to get the right clearance to fly the helicopter, Gausdal said.
