Russia denies rumors of Ukrainian frontline breakthrough

The Russian Defense Ministry on Thursday evening denied rumors that the Ukrainian army had made inroads at several points along the front line.

This was reported by Russian news agency Tass on Thursday.

– The general situation in the area surrounding the special military operation is under control, the Russian Defense Ministry said in the statement.

– Statements circulating on independent Telegram channels about ‘defence breakthroughs’ that have taken place at various points along the line of contact do not correspond to reality,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. broadcast Thursday evening by the Kremlin-run Tass news agency.

In social media and on independent blogs, rumors abounded of Ukrainian troop movements at several locations along the front lines.

Other messages on Thursday evening concerned suspected drones or explosions in Russian Belgorod, not far from the border in northern Ukraine. This information is not verified.

Earlier Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj posted his usual video address to the people on his Telegram channel.

Here he did not comment on alleged rumors of Ukrainian breakthroughs, but thanked a wide range of military departments for their efforts to defend Ukraine and repel Russian forces.

Usually these videos of Zelenskyi are recorded from the presidential palace in Kyiv. During tonight’s speech to the people, a Ukrainian president can be seen in front of a white wall, with no backdrop in the background.
