The 33-year-old is targeting a call-up to the Copa America with Canada, who are participating in the tournament for the first time this summer. And he looks set to win that after becoming Aberdeen's star man in recent weeks.
He provided two assists in the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic and looks to be finding his feet in the north-east at a crucial time.
Aberdeen are anchored in the bottom six of the Scottish Premiership despite two bounce-back wins and extending their unbeaten league run to six matches. But Hoilett believes that belief has grown since Leven replaced Neil Warnock in mid-March.
“The manager has brought confidence to the team since he took over,” said the veteran winger.
“It was crucial to start the post-split matches with victories. We have a bit of momentum lately and we need to maintain it until the end.

“There is good talent at this club and we are on a good run under Peter’s leadership. The team has good momentum in the league at the moment, and we need to maintain it.
“We have to keep going, working day by day to improve ourselves – not only as individuals, but also as a group. »
Hoilett knows that if he can continue to help Aberdeen by consolidating seventh place, it will increase his chances of remaining in the Canadian national team's plans.
He showcased his talent for his country at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, appearing in all three group stage matches.
Now he aims to replicate his stellar performance with the Dons to secure a place in another major tournament.
Canada is set to compete in the Copa America, scheduled for June 20-July 14 in the United States, marking its first appearance in the competition – and it must finalize its 23-man roster by June 12.
“It’s a huge moment for Canada to participate in the Copa America for the first time,” he continued. “If I am called up, I would be delighted to represent my country.
“At the moment I’m focusing on playing every week for Aberdeen.”

Overall, Hoilett, who was Warnock's only signing during his short tenure at Pittodrie, insists it has been a joy to be part of the Aberdeen squad.
“I'm enjoying my time here and I'm getting on well with the team, which is a good group,” he explained.
“We bond on and off the field. Everyone works hard for each other to achieve victories down the line.
“There’s a great group of guys here and a great locker room. It's a joy to fight for each other on the field.
