The Belgian national team was one of the biggest disappointments of the World Cup in Qatar. This is because they were already knocked out in the group stage, where they faced Croatia, Canada and Morocco. The result of such a course of events was the end of cooperation between the bosses of the Red Devils and coach Roberto Martinez, who had managed it since 2016 and managed to lead to third place in the 2018 World Cup in Russia and to the quarter-finals of the European Championship three years later. Today, one of his greatest aces left the national team.
Eden Hazard has retired from international football
Eden Hazard has been playing for Belgium since 2008. He played with the national team in three World Cups: in Brazil, Russia and Qatar. Moreover, in 2016, he was one of the pillars of the Euro team. In total, he played 126 games for the national team, scoring 33 goals and providing 36 assists.
“Today, everything has changed. Thank you for your unparalleled love and support. Thank you for all the happy moments I have experienced since 2008. I have decided to end my international career. I will miss you guys,” Eden Hazard wrote on social media.

Belgium at the World Cup in Qatar
Belgium kicked off the World Cup with a modest 1-0 win over Canada thanks to Michy Batshuayi’s goal. Then their opponent was this year’s league revelation, Morocco, who beat the Red Devils 2-0.
The Belgians played their last match against Croatia in a goalless draw and it became clear that they would not qualify for the knockout stages.
