Canadian Leylah Fernandez played her first WTA 250 match in Rabat. The Czech Linda Fruhvirtova, 18, was eliminated against the Turkish Cagla Buyukakcay.
Leylah Fernandez (WTA 51) was the revelation of the US Open 2021. She then reached the final in New York. At Roland Garros last year, she qualified for the quarter-finals. On Tuesday, she started her performance in Rabat. The Canadian defeated Angela Fita Boluda (WTA 289) 6-3, 6-4.

Alycia Parks (WTA 49) defeated Anastasia Tikhonova (WTA 236) 6-3, 7-6(6). The American led 6-3, 2-0 to lose four straight in the second set. She equalized at 4:4 and finally there was a tie-break. In it, Parks saved two set points. She had four straight 4-6 points.

The match lasted one hour and 49 minutes. The American served eight aces. She came back four times and converted five of her nine break points. Parks’ next opponent will be Kamilla Rachimova (WTA 85), who came from 1-3 down in the second set to win 6-3, 6-3 over Malak El Allami.
Tatyana Maria (WTA 64) defeated Tatiana Prozorova (WTA 287) 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-0. In the second set tie-break, the German lost six points in a row 5-1. The third set definitely belonged to the Wimbledon 2022 semi-finalist. Maria was broken five times and used nine of her 14 break points. In the second round, the German will face Lucia Bronzetti (WTA 102), who beat Rebecca Peterson (WTA 86) 6:4, 7:6(7). In the second set, the Italian came back 1:4. She was promoted to sixth match ball.
Cagla Buyukakcay (WTA 263) defeated Linda Fruhvirtova (WTA 56) 7-5, 6-4. In the first set, the Czech started the hunt with 0:4, but did not reverse her fate. In the eighth and ninth game, she defended a total of four set plays, but the end belonged to the Turkish woman. There were seven breaks in the second set, including four for Buyuakcay.
