The British intelligence services estimate that the abuse of alcohol causes significant damage to the Russian army in Ukraine.
So writes the British Ministry of Defense in a recent intelligence report. Here, reference is made to a Russian news channel on Telegram that reports a huge number of alcohol-related incidents, crimes and deaths.
British intelligence believes that a significant number of Russian soldiers in Ukraine died from causes other than combat.
– Excessive alcohol consumption is common in much of Russian society. The use of alcohol has long been quietly accepted as part of military life, including combat operations, the report said.
British intelligence also believe that cold-related injuries such as hypothermia, traffic accidents and mishandling of weapons are to blame for deaths on the Russian front.
– Russian commanders probably view alcohol abuse as particularly destructive to efficiency, he continues.
