On the country, depressions are in queue. Temperatures are also expected to drop again, after a slight uptick in some places recently – such as Sunndalsøra in Møre and Romsdal, where 10.1 degrees were measured on Sunday.
– We don’t really see any clear signs of spring in the forecast now and as Easter approaches, says duty meteorologist Per Egil Haga at the Dagbladet Meteorological Institute.
– So for those who yearn for spring, just be patient. Maybe more layers.
Bad Easter News
In summary, March is likely to be a rather cold month, he says.
Easter also doesn’t seem to be able to deliver sun and warmth into the cabin wall.
– It looks like April will also start with cool spring weather in the south and north, says Haga, and points out that the forecast so far is uncertain.
– Winter weather type
For the coming week, however, they are more certain, and in the north there will still be wintry conditions.
– There will be thunderstorms, which will mainly hit Troms and Finnmark with snow showers, specifies the meteorologist.
Snow showers will begin as early as Monday in Finnmark, before snowy weather finally arrives in Troms and northern Nordland.
– It will be rather wintry weather.
Was trapped in a tunnel: – Very uncomfortable
Weather Winners
Further south, in Nordland, Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal, we find those who “get away the cheapest” in the coming week.
Temperatures will drop here too, but there doesn’t seem to be as much precipitation.
– Maybe they can see the sun a little too. If it is not going to dominate, there may be a few hours of sunshine later in the week, specifies the meteorologist.
Snow, sleet and rain
However, the rest of southern Norway will have to put up with the fact that low pressures will dominate – in the form of rain on the coast, and in the form of snow in the interior and at higher altitudes.
– There will not be much to see until the sun, and the weather will be cool with temperatures above freezing.
But even though the weather will be characterized by low pressure, there is no storm in sight.
– It doesn’t look like there will be big, powerful low pressures with lots of wind and precipitation, but it looks like it will be wet most days of the coming week.
As temperatures hover around freezing, it is also difficult to say with absolute certainty where precipitation will come as rain and where it will come as snow.
– For example, in Oslo there will most likely be rain or sleet, but with temperatures so close to freezing, it won’t be long before the precipitation takes a different form. There is perhaps only one degree of difference between rain and snow. But it doesn’t look like we’ll currently have the big, heavy snowfalls that have come in the week we’re putting behind us, Haga said.
If the meteorologist has to take anything positive from the forecast for the coming weeks, it’s that skis don’t look like they’re going to be put aside anytime soon.
– For the keen skiers among us, there will be opportunities for good skiing conditions throughout the Easter holidays, as forecasts now show. Across the country. A joy for some and a pain for others, says Haga.
