Norwegians across the country have had new sunshine and warmth recently, but now that’s about to end, at least for a little while.

– It’s about enjoying today, says duty meteorologist Ingvild Villa.

She says the weather will be fine today too, but a cold front will put an end to the summer mood tonight.

– It was pretty good at the weekend, and it will be pretty good today, but then a front will come from the eastern mountains. It will be possible to bring precipitation in the form of heavy showers and perhaps also lightning and thunder. Also, it will be a bit colder.

Short-lived bad weather in the south

Villa reports that the bad weather will fortunately be short-lived, at least in the south.

– The country is far away and has a lot to offer, but it is said that it will eventually be sunny in the south.

At the end of the week, people in the south and east will again be able to wear shorts and sundresses.

– After the passage of the front during the day tomorrow, the weather will still be fine for quite a while. Then the temperatures will pick up a little and will probably approach the same temperature as the weekend.

These weather changes are usually seasonal, according to Villa.

– It is quite typical when such a front presents itself that you will see a temperature difference in front and behind the front. We are used to the weather changing quickly.

More precipitation in the west

Villa says western Norway will feel the rain first.

– Everything will be fine in western Norway today, but they will be the first to be affected by the front that will hit eastern Norway tonight. Rogaland will also be exposed to heavy rain showers and lightning and thunder tonight. For the rest of western Norway, there will be mostly precipitation.

But Tuesday will unfortunately not be the only rainy day this week for Westerners.

– Contrary to østafjell, it will not be the end of the precipitation for this week, because a new depression will arrive already on Wednesday. This means that most of the west coast of Norway will receive precipitation.

Fortunately, the rain will stop at times.

– There will be a little downtime between the two, so it’s not all gray the whole start of the week. But they will probably have the best day today.

Big temperature difference in the north

In northern Norway, it will be sunny once the clouds clear.

– Today the weather will be very good in almost all of northern Norway. There are still places with low cloud cover, but it looks like it will clear up during the day and we can get some pretty high temperatures, Villa says.

But then the temperature on the scale will drop.

– Then there will be a weather change that will start already tonight in Nordland, then it will spread north towards Tromsø. Beyond Tuesday it will enter Finnmark and that will cause a pretty drastic drop in temperature.

Villa thinks some northerners may experience a little heat shock tomorrow.

– There are places that will probably see twenty degrees today and approach ten degrees tomorrow. So it will be a bit of a contrast to wake up today versus tomorrow.
