OTTAWA—Today, November 28th, it’s GivingTuesday! An annual international movement dedicated to giving. Many organizations that support many causes hope that Canadians will answer the call and donate to a cause close to their hearts. Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) is no different as each year the costs of developing programs, wrestlers and competitions around the world increase.
As the official national sports governance body for Olympic-style wrestling in Canada, WCL is responsible for the selection and preparation of Canadian teams that compete in international competitions, including continental championships, world championships and major multi-sport games (i.e. the Olympics).
The mission of WCL is to provide national leadership, support and security to our athletes and other participants in the pursuit of success on international podiums with a vision of achieving sustainable international excellence through the growth of wrestling at Canada. Key areas of focus include: culture, governance and management, podium performance, return to sport through sport development and promotion.
To fulfill these responsibilities and achieve these objectives, significant resources are required. That’s why, on this GivingTuesday, WCL is asking the wrestling community to support these and other initiatives.
WCL, as a federally incorporated non-profit corporation and Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA), is able to issue charitable donation tax receipts for income tax purposes upon receipt of donations from individuals and companies. Tax receipts are available for donations over $50.00. Please refer to WCL’s Donations and Tax Receipts Policy for further details.
Donors can request that 100% of their donation be used for WCL programs such as:
- Cadet National Team
- Junior National Team
- U23 national team
- Senior national team
- Olympic team
- Quest for gold
- Others
So this GivingTuesday, help support Canadian wrestlers and receive great items!
