It was not a successful day for Polish tennis players in Barletta. Maks Kaśnikowski and Piotr Matuszewski lost their doubles matches and were eliminated in the first round.
Steven Diez and Nicholas David Ionel started the match with a very strong blow. They quickly broke the opponent’s serve and immediately it was 5:0. The Maks Kaśnikowski/James McCabe duo could only win one game.
The picture of the game changed in the second set, in which the Polish-Australian pair managed to win 7:5 and the fate of qualifying for the quarter-finals was decided by a super tie-break.
This one started 5-0 for Diez and Ionel. The opponents tried to make up for the losses, but they could only get four points and said goodbye to the tournament.

Then Piotr Matuszewski appeared on the pitch, pairing with Croatian Zvonimir Babić. Their rivals were number 2 seeds Zdenek Kolar and Denis Mołchanov.
A service game lost at 2:2 established the competition in the first set. As in the previous match, the game tied in the second set. Both made a lot of mistakes.
Matuszewski and Babic in the second set lost up to four games on their own serve, and they also dropped out of further competition in the Italian Barletta.
