Severe weather is expected to hit the east coast of the United States on Friday, before the hurricane moves north towards Canada on Sunday.
The Category 1 hurricane will likely hit New England and coastal Canada with heavy rain, flooding, high waves and wind gusts strong enough to cause power outages. This is what CNN writes.
Governor Maura Healey declares a state of emergency in Massachusetts. Local transport authorities report it X, formerly Twitter.
Healey is calling on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to release resources to help communities during the storm.
Clear call
According to National Hurricane Center Director Michael Brennan, the eye of the hurricane will remain in the Atlantic Ocean. However, the storm will still hit the continent.
– The storm will move toward places like Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, before moving north along the coast toward Canada, Brennan said in a statement.
Transportation authorities are asking drivers to use caution and plan carefully.
