Was contacted by Biden

20 cars derailed when a train ran into trouble in Springfield, Ohio. All emergency services rushed to the scene following the incident.

So far, only property damage has been reported. Video footage from the scene shows how the train, seemingly without warning, derails in a straight line.

CNN reports that a full alarm was raised after the incident, as there was great uncertainty about the load on the train. It’s only been a month since the same railroad experienced a derailment, also around this time in Ohio. A train carrying toxic cargo derailed in early February. Residents of the region are still living in uncertainty as to when they will be allowed to return home.

The fear that the same thing could happen again was therefore great after the derailment on Saturday. After a few hours, however, confirmation came that there was no toxic cargo on board and that the inhabitants of the area were not in danger.

President Joe Biden was also involved in the incident, according to Governor Mike DeWine.

– We do not believe there are any harmful materials on board. President Biden and Transportation Secretary Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg contacted me and offered to help, DeWine wrote on Twitter.

More than 1,500 homes lost power in connection with the derailment.
