In an interview with TalkSport, West Ham owner David Sullivan has said that Declan Rice will leave the club this summer.
The day after Declan Rice lifted West Ham first European trophy in 24 years, Owner David Sullivan said they promised the captain he could leave this summer.
– It’s almost obligatory. We promised him he could leave in the summer, Sullivan told the radio when asked if lifting the trophy in Prague was the last thing he did as a West Ham player.
– I think the offers will arrive quickly. Three or four clubs have expressed interest, says the owner, who also claims Rice turned down a £200,000-a-week contract offer 18 months ago.
According to the famous newspaper The telegraph Rice is highly sought after by Arsenal, and they will be in the driver’s seat in the battle for the 24-year-old’s signature.
The London club are reportedly willing to pay a staggering £92million for the midfielder. This corresponds to approximately NOK 1.25 billion at the current exchange rate.
Also Athleticism wrote about Arsenal’s interest in Rice. The English national team player’s contract expires in the summer of 2024, a year from now.
However, West Ham has a clause in the contract that can extend the contract for another year.
After the Conference League triumph, Rice was asked about his future by the British press.
– There is a lot of speculation about my future. There is a lot of interest from other clubs, but I have two years left on my contract. Let’s just see what the future holds. Who knows?, says Rice.
The Telegraph reports that there is acceptance within West Ham that Rice will leave the club this summer.
