Iga Świątek remained the best tennis player in the world in the latest WTA ranking. Magda Linette also retained a high position. There was only one change in the Top 10 on Monday.

Last week, Iga Świątek didn’t start, but she continued to prepare for the match on European clay. Despite this, the 21-year-old from Raszyn remained at the top of the WTA rankings. On Monday, she entered her 54th consecutive week as the world’s No. 1 racquet.

Świątek’s advantage over second Aryna Sabalenka increased slightly. The Belarusian is down 55 points from last year’s performance in Charleston. Thus, the Pole is ahead of her by 2084 points. American Jessica Pegula strengthened herself on the lowest step of the podium by reaching the semi-final on American clay.

There was only one top 10 castling on Monday. Ons Jabeur moved up from fifth to fourth position. This is the effect of the Tunisian triumph in the WTA 500 competition in Charleston, thanks to which she overtook the French Caroline Garcia. Jabeur beat Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic in the final, who, despite losing a few points for last year’s success in the United States, remained the 11th rocket on the globe.

White-Red runner-up Magda Linette didn’t repeat last year’s quarter-final in Charleston, but through the third round she held on to 19th place. Magdalena Fręch dropped from 98th to 100th position, as she did not qualify for the main draw on American clay. Katarzyna Kawa (WTA 226) moved up seven places, while Maja Chwalińska (WTA 239) and Weronika Falkowska (WTA 253) fell back slightly.

There will be no series main events this week. The Billie Jean King Cup matches will take place over the weekend. Weakened by the absence of Iga Świątek and Magdalena Fręch, the Polish selection will play outside Kazakhstan (more here).
