Sir Safety Perugia is the first foreign club in Kamil Semeniuk’s career. The player admitted that although he initially had great fears about moving to another country, he doesn’t regret the transfer decision.

– The process of getting to know the Italian lifestyle, communing with this city, with this culture is definitely ahead of me, but I have to admit – I like it. It’s funny. Initially, my fiancée and I were afraid of what it would all look like, because we spent our whole lives in Poland, practically in one city, Kędzierzyn-Koźle, so here we had to make a big life decision, to move out of such a shadow, out of the comfort zone, but we wanted to check, what will it look like. I changed club and not just any club, because Perugia is a titled team, one of the best in the world, despite the results we have obtained recently. I don’t regret this decision and if I had to do it again, I would do the same thing, ”assured Semeniuk.

The Polish representative added that he had no major problems adapting to his team’s style of play, as well as mastering prepared tactics for rivals playing differently. However, the volleyball player pointed out that he lacks some elements his former club is famous for.

– Our team definitely has a completely different style to the one we played last season in Kędzierzyn. ZAKSA plays a patient game, we play a more energetic game. We try to complete the action on the first try. I think sometimes it takes us in the wrong direction, we lose patience and we lose games because of it. There are several teams in the Italian league that play similarly to ZAKSA, for example our next rival Milan. They also know how to play patiently when the ball isn’t comfortable enough to finish it right away. I must admit that it would be nice if we learned this patience. And that wouldn’t be a problem. All you need is to want. It all starts with training. How you train is how you play later so if we don’t try it in practice a miracle certainly won’t happen on the pitch that we’ll suddenly hit the block in situations where the ball is not comfortable to finish in first action. And those are the basics: playing a loose ball in the area between 2 and 3, so that the receiver has the comfort of not only playing on the left or right wing, but also being able to open the first tempo and pipe. It’s not just Grupa Azoty ZAKSA’s patience that Semeniuk lacks in Italy. The 26-year-old admitted that in terms of organisation, especially when it comes to the biggest volleyball events, the Italians can learn a lot from Poland. It is all the more fortunate that the president of Perugia is open to learning and observing what works best in other clubs or countries.

– I have this feeling that the Italians are closed. They consider themselves the best in every element, but they are not. And at all levels. It’s not about what the clubs look like, it’s just about looking at the different big events that are behind us. When the Italians organize something, it’s – I’m sorry to say – not great. If we were to compare the final of the League of Nations last year and the organization of the World Cup by Poland, these are two different levels. That’s why I’m very happy that our president is not closed and wants to see how it works in Poland or in other leagues. I hope we get more and more out of it,” admitted Semeniuk.

Already in May, Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle will face Jastrzębski Węgiel in the Champions League final. Kamil Semeniuk does not hide that he will cross his fingers for “Tricolor”.

– In the Polish Champions League final, of course, I will support ZAKSIE. There is no other way. My heart is always with Kędzierzyn. It’s a pity that Perugia is not in the final, but half of my heart is still happy, because Kędzierzyn is participating there for the third time in a row and in this competition with Jastrzębski Węgiel, I support ZAKSA.

The host of the Whites-Reds knows that his form has not been at its best in recent days. Kamil Semeniuk is even afraid that… he will lose his place in the Polish national team!

“I am a bit worried because my form is not great and I will be happy if I show up for the national team training camp. In my position the competition is very high, we have fantastic players to play. a very high level and to be honest my form is not very high at the moment. I will easily find players who surpass me now. But I will do my best, I will do my job. The season is still to save because we’re still fighting for the scudetto. I hope my form will come back and I’ll show what I can do. I’m in a really top team and when you say ‘Perugia’ everyone says ‘Wow!’ “but if you’re standing in a square, I can’t be in the national team just because I’m a Perugia player. .

In a few months, the Poles will fight in the Olympic qualifications. The Whites and Reds will play for the Olympics in a tournament in China, and their opponents, besides the host team, will be Argentina, the Netherlands, Canada, Mexico, Belgium and Bulgaria.
