– We brought with us a clear presentation of how we train and want to play. I think many have received confirmation that there was a very good plan there. We’ve been accused of not having it, and that’s completely untrue. But the fact that we didn’t do so well with the one we saw good trends for last year is completely correct, says Kjetil Rekdal.
Now is the board meeting in Rosenborg, which the hurried coach of Rosenborg attended.
Kjetil Rekdal reports that he is still Rosenborg’s coach.
– Yes, he told TV 2.
– What took so long?
– They also had other things to settle. In the sports part we presented and explained how we work, play, have played and try to play. He hasn’t changed since day one. We’ve given the board a really good analysis of how things are looking and how we’re going to get up and move forward, Rekdal responds.
– Have you received any requests from the board of directors?
– No, but everyone understands that nine points in nine games is not good. And then we have to make sure that we start to climb the ladder, manage to play better football and score more goals. Last year’s season was pretty good, and it wasn’t as good this year. We have the same challenges in the first part of the season as last year. Everyone sees it. It’s pretty much the same now.
When asked if he feels he should have results in, say, the next two games, he replies:
– No, I have no impression. We are also following the strategy that the club has chosen by lowering the average age, costs and having a team that has development potential. We have that now, but it didn’t go as well as we thought. We have to incorporate that.
Rekdal and his assistant Geir Frigård smiled at the press as they walked out of the meeting shortly after 6 p.m. A little later, Frigård entered the press room for a coffee. When asked if they had a job, he replied:
– You have to take it with someone else, we will surely tell you!
