Frank Erdal from Åsane had a big surprise when he checked online banking this morning:

– I immediately realized that something was wrong. Many, many small sums have arrived in the account. In total, the amount is in the six figures, Erdal tells Dagbladet.

It was Bergens tide (BT) who first brought up the subject.

No “sender”

Erdal says the “sender” of the money is not listed on the transfers. The honest man from Åsane immediately contacted the bank, Fana Sparebank, to clarify the mysterious sums.

– I asked if it could be money laundering, he said.

Erdal’s wife also received unexpected money in her account. She is also a client of Fana Sparebank.

– We know that some customers have had several small sums paid into an account that is not theirs. This is due to an error at the Tietoevry data center, with which we are in communication, explains Kim Lingjærde, financial director of Fana Sparebank, to Dagbladet.

For a while, Lingjærde feared that it could affect several banks, but at 11 am he is of the opinion that it is limited to Fana.

Geir Remman, press spokesman for Tietoevry, says they are working to correct the error.

– There is an error concerning Fana Sparebank. We are working to correct the error and obtain reimbursement of the amounts. We apologize to those affected, Remman told Dagbladet.

Erdal doesn’t think it’s bad that the large sum of money isn’t his.

– I understand it’s a mistake, and I hope they find out. It is surprising that the bank makes such mistakes, he told Dagbladet.
