On Friday and Saturday, the fencers will compete in the individual tournament, on Sunday in the team tournament. “It’s a great honor for us, but also an even greater challenge, because we know that the cast of the contest will be excellent. What is the women’s foil qualification system for the Paris Olympics? 8 teams (or 9 if the host privilege is used) will qualify for the Olympic Team Tournament, the top four from the standings and the next four from the individual continents. Currently, the top four spots are occupied by Italy, the United States, France and Japan, followed by Canada, Germany, Poland and Spain. Our florists should therefore maintain a high place and overtake the Germans in the ranking. Three foilers from each of the qualified teams are also guaranteed to participate in the individual tournament. Other places will be the winner of the so-called tackle (i.e. the last chance tournament), or the players of the so-called. host seats (France). The tournaments included in the ranking will be played until March 2024.
“Everything indicates that the direct competition for a pass for Paris will take place between us, Germans, Spaniards and Hungarians, but in practice these tournaments so far have also made sense. However, we do not look at the others We have our plan and we will do everything to achieve the goal – said Tomasz Ciepły, the coach of the Polish florist team.
“We really like competing in Poznań because it’s an added advantage for us. We remember how the fans cheered us on a year ago and then we won the bronze medal in the team competition. It would be great to repeat it” – said Julia Walczyk-Klimaszyk from KU AZS UAM Poznań, currently the highest Polish woman in the world ranking (18th place).
