Last week, Dagbladet wrote about Nøtterøy’s four childhood friends who are currently crossing the vast Pacific Ocean by sailboat.

The four also contributed to the search for American television profile Aaron Carotta, who disappeared on the road.

Last week, the boys of Nøtterøy received a number of messages from strangers on Messenger.

– They wanted help in finding missing rower Aaron Carotta, Jonas Selim (25) told Dagbladet.

– His team last heard from him on May 20, and since then he has stopped responding. A few days later, on May 26, he sent an emergency message on the connection, which sends the location. We are probably the closest ship to its supposed position, he adds.

Aaron Carotta, also known in the United States as “Adventure Aaron”, is an American television personality, travel blogger and former journalist.

Carotta aims to row around the world with the boat Smiles.

On Saturday, nine days after Dagbladet first mentioned the matter, the gang said Carotta had been found.

– Good morning! For information, we learned that Aaron was found safe and sound in a life raft. There was definitely a lot of different information and it was a little hard to get in this group chat, but at least that’s what we know now. I think they had sent a plane that located him, if we understood correctly, writes Jonas Selim in Dagbladet on Saturday morning Norwegian time.

It has not yet been officially confirmed that Carotta has been found. However, several people on social media who followed the search report that he has been found.

Thus, the search operation in which the band of friends was involved is probably over.

Explorers have contributed to the search for the TV profile in several ways.

Last week Captain Marius Bakken (25) said he, among other things, used a drone to scan areas and search for fame.

– There is always someone on the boat here who is on duty, and we are taking part in a so-called bolo search (be on the lookout), Bakken (25) said last week.

– We do what we can, but I think it’s easier to look for a needle in a haystack than a rowboat in the Pacific Ocean, Selim added.

The needle was therefore found in the haystack.

When Dagbladet spoke to the group of friends last week, they had been in Baugen for nineteen months. The journey started in Tønsberg.

Then Europe, across the Atlantic to the Caribbean, then to the Pacific Ocean through the Panama Canal.

When Dagbladet addressed the circumnavigators, they were embarking on their greatest ocean crossing, 3,000 nautical miles from the Galapagos to the Marquesas Islands.

The gang, who have come a long way to learn the vagaries of the sea during the trip, described the sea as unforgiving.

– When we sailed from Gran Canaria to Cape Verde, there were such big waves that about 400 to 500 liters of water entered the boat. Then the food was mostly spoiled. We also had a strong gale and a small storm, with winds over 40 knots, Selim said.

– We know the sea is unforgiving. This is why we make important preparations on the boat, so that it is optimal before undertaking longer voyages. We go through security and check that everything is as it should be, he added.
