She says the assailant chopped up passers-by.

– Warning shots were fired because the assailant threatened several passers-by.

Police are working with witness interviews and mapping who witnessed the incident.

– The attacker waved the knife, and if I understand correctly, another person must have been hacked afterwards and suffered a small tear, says Engebretsen.

Chief of Operations Monica Ingebretsen says shots were fired on the ground and they quickly took control of the person.

Police cordoned off a large area at the site and around nearby streets, the Dagbladet reporter said at the scene.

The district manager for the district in question, Morten Sanden, says he was made aware of the incident.

– We brought in additional guards at the facility to deal with other people living in the building and other employees, Sanden explains.

He can’t say anything about the type of institution involved, but says there are several residents in the building.

– For the moment, we respect the directives of the police, says Sanden.

Police terminated the operational incident at the scene.
