Tatjana Maria, Linda Fruhvirtova and Nao Hibino were eliminated from the WTA 500 event in Osaka. The top seeds had to recognize the superiority of much lower ranked players. The winner of the tournament was Lin Zhu.

On the first day of competition in Osaka, only four matches took place due to weather conditions. Because of this, there were a lot of matches in the next match, but fortunately they passed without major problems.

From the first round, there were many surprises in the form of defeats of the top seeds. It all started with a meeting of the “two” of the tournament, namely Tatjana Maria. The German won the first set against Panna Udvardy, but the Hungarian prevailed in the following matches.

Harriet Dart was also a surprise. The Briton needed three sets to eliminate fourth seed Linda Fruhvirtova. In the decisive match, we witnessed a one-sided duel.

The number seven in the tournament, Nao Hibino, could also make Osaka forget the title. The Japanese was beaten by the Canadian Rebecca Marino, who closed the match in two sets.

The tournament was successfully opened by Lin Zhu, the highest seed in the tournament. The Chinese faced her compatriot Xiyu Wang and won after a match in two sets.
