During the Sarpsborg 08 match a week ago, Markus Henriksen unfortunately had to leave the pitch with what turned out to be an injury which likely put him out of action for the rest of the season. Erlend Dahl Reitan took over the captaincy in the dying minutes and was chosen by interim coach Svein Maalen as captain in Henriksen’s absence.
Against Aalesund, Reitan leads a Rosenborg team lacking in points after a checkered start. The 0-3 loss to Sarpsborg 08 on Svein Maalen’s debut means that at the time of writing Rosenborg have a shorter path to relegation than a medal when a third of the season has been played.
Therefore, three points against Aalesund’s jumbo table is important to be able to see themselves at the top and not the bottom of the table in the coming weeks.
Four changes
Svein Maalen is making four changes at Rosenborg from the previous game. Sam Rogers is back in defence, while Morten Bjørlo is in midfield three. Up top, Ole Sæter makes his season debut from the start, while Kristall Ingason replaces Jayden Nelson, who will contest the Gold Cup for Canada in the United States in the coming weeks.
Let’s go for an exciting confrontation between two teams who have just changed coaches. From the Aalesund bench, Christian Johnsen leads his first official AAFK game when Rosenborg is invited. From Trønder’s perspective, we expect as many points for the home side today as on Svein Maalen’s debut last weekend.
