That the Norwegian Civil Defense tests typhoons (commonly called the plane alarm) every second Wednesday of January and June is a familiar thing to many, but in the test held on Wednesday June 14, it will come closer of the vast majority of us.
This is the first comprehensive mobile emergency notification test.
When this is triggered, phones with 4G and 5G will vibrate and emit a loud siren-like sound for about 10 seconds. A text will appear on the screen explaining that this is a test.
The Directorate of Education asks schools and kindergartens to prepare children for this, as it can seem scary.
The test will be triggered between 11:55 a.m. and 12:10 p.m.
In an email from a primary school in Oslo, which DinSide has seen, the management asks all parents and staff to tell the children about what will happen.
Update it
DSB Press Officer Henriette Magnussen urges anyone wishing to receive the notification to ensure they have updated their phone.
– We have experience from Denmark where people didn’t get the notice because of that, she told DinSide.
As mentioned, the notification will be sent to all phones with 4G and 5G coverage. If for various reasons you do not want to receive it, you must put the phone in airplane mode, or turn it off completely. The silent function is cancelled.
– After all, we want the vast majority of people to receive it and become familiar with it and send it to everyone who wants to receive it, says Magnussen.
– Stop!
It is also very clear on what to do if you receive the warning while driving a car or other vehicles.
– Then we have a crystal clear call. Stop first, then read the warning without endangering yourself or others!
