TORONTO: – It’s absolutely wild! We didn’t expect to win when we left, says a delighted Rumble in Rhodes singer Thomas Bratlie over the phone from Toronto.
The band was nominated along with Disco Ensemble, Figurines, Annie and Iron On, but it was Follo guys Thomas Bratlie, David Bratlie, Frode Kristensen, Henrik Lie and Marius Lübbe who drew the longest drop.
– It was the first prize we were nominated for abroad, and then we won! It’s an incredibly delicious feeling, says Bratlie.

Bigger than expected.

“The Indies” is an annual awards ceremony that recognizes independent music from around the world. It is public votes on the Internet that determine the winners and this year, Rumble in Rhodes was joined by well-known acts such as Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party and Arcade Fire in the winner’s circle.
– We met a lot of raw bands and had a great time, says Bratlie.
The awards ceremony is part of the “Canadian Music Week Festival”, a major television event in Canada.
“It was a lot bigger than we expected,” Bratlie said.
– We found ourselves in the middle of a huge media circus after receiving the award and received a lot of attention throughout the day yesterday.

Back on tour.

Now the guys from Follo are going to play two showcases, and after yesterday’s award, they hope people in Canada will come out of their homes to see them live.
– We think we’ve received a lot of attention here, so we’re excited to show that we also deliver live, says Bratlie.
The band will remain in Canada for the rest of the week before resuming their Norwegian tour, which has already started, in conjunction with their recently released debut album “Own me like the city”.
“I hope this award helps to attract attention for the rest of our tour. At least we have a nice trophy to show at home,” concludes Bratlie.
