On July 20, the Football World Cup starts, and this time the championship will be broadcast on NRK and Viaplay. They must share the fights fraternally.
– We look forward to the biggest footballing adventure of the summer – and with Norway as a solid underdog. On TV, radio and online, Norwegians can enjoy football, says Espen Olsen Langfeldt, sports editor at NRK.
The media houses will each broadcast half of the matches on television, while Viaplay will broadcast the entire championship digitally. NRK matches can also be seen on NRK TV.
Norway will already be in action in the opening match of the Championship, where Hege Riise’s daughters will meet host nation New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland on Thursday July 20 at 09:00 Norwegian time. The match is broadcast on NRK1, NRK TV and Viaplay. The other two teams in the Norwegian squad are World Cup debutants Switzerland and the Philippines.
NRK commentator Carl-Erik Torp has high expectations for the championship. He thinks Norway will come out of the group stage.
– Women’s football is developing rapidly. The scope and quality of what we saw at CE in England last year was at a new, higher level. At the World Championships we have even more of the best, but also several weak national teams from smaller nations. The Norwegian team certainly has the qualities to surprise. It will be a big disappointment if we don’t progress from the group, confides Torp about the launch of the WC plans.
NRK sends a top commentary team to the championship, with several well-known voices. Christian Nilssen, Andreas Stabrun Smith and Patrick Sten Rowlands will commentate the matches for the national broadcaster, with Carl-Erik Torp as expert commentator.
At Viaplay, Gunnhild Toldnes will direct the matches from the inside court. She is accompanied by football expert Sigrid Heien Hansen and commentator Kasper Wikestad, who will commentate Norway’s games.
Over one million tickets have been sold for the championship. The new world champion will be chosen in the grand final at Stadium Australia in Sydney on Sunday August 20 at 12:00 noon Norwegian time.
