Panama qualified for the CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-finals after beating Qatar 4-0. The Panamanians’ greatest hero was Ismael Diaz, who achieved an extraordinary feat.
The competition for the CONCACAF Zone Championship is underway. Another team that made it into the top four on Sunday night was Panama. The Panamanians opened the scoring in the 16th minute after Edgar Barcenas’ goal. They were leading 1-0 at half-time, as they scored three more goals within 45 seconds.

Ismael Diaz was the hero of the second half. A footballer with a past in the reserves of FC Porto and Deportivo La Coruna, he started scoring in the 56th minute. He scored more goals in the 63rd and 65th minutes, respectively. The 26-year-old scored four goals in the tournament. He had already scored in a group game against El Salvador, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Panama reached the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the first time since 2015. Then they finally took third place. He will face the winner of the United States vs Canada match in the semi-finals.
The CONCACAF Gold Cup 2023 takes place on the grounds of Canada and the United States. The tournament is played from June 24 to July 16. The American team defends its title.
