Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program releases new employer form

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has released an updated version of its employer form.

Beginning April 10, the “Request for Approval of an Employment Position” form must be used for all new applications for appointment to the Employer: Job Offer stream of the Provincial Nominee Program.

“If you download an old version of the form, we will return your application as incomplete and refund your fee,” the POCI said.

Eligibility conditions for the Employer Job Offer component

Employer's job offer: Foreign workers component

To be eligible for this stream, candidates must have:

  • A permanent, full-time job offer under NOC TEER Category 1, 2 or 3 that meets Ontario median salary levels and in a position needed by the business;
    • For those already in the position, the salary offered must be equal to or higher than the current salary paid.
  • Two cumulative years of relevant professional experience during the five years preceding the date of application;
  • Mandatory relevant license in Ontario, if the position requires it;
  • Live abroad or work, study or visit Canada with a valid permit;
  • Intention to settle in Ontario.

Employer job offer: International Students Stream

To be eligible for this stream, candidates must have:

  • A permanent, full-time job offer under NOC TEER Category 1, 2 or 3, Skill Type 0 or Skill Levels A or B that meets Ontario's low wage levels and in a position necessary for the company;
    • For those already in the position, the salary offered must be equal to or higher than the current salary paid.
  • Either
    • Graduated from or meets the requirements for a minimum two-year, full-time degree from a publicly funded Canadian college or university; OR
    • Graduated from or met the requirements of a full-time graduate program of at least one year from a publicly funded Canadian college or university.
  • Has completed at least half of the studies in Canada;
  • Apply within two years from the date you completed the above course
  • Legal status in Ontario
  • Intention to settle in Ontario.

Employer job offer: Skills in demand component

This stream targets candidates with specific skills sought in Ontario. To be eligible, candidates must have:

  • A permanent, full-time job offer in certain occupations in the agriculture or construction sector and corresponding to the median salary in Ontario for the occupation (see table below), and in a position necessary for the business .
    • For those already in the position, the salary offered must be equal to or higher than the current salary paid.
  • 9 months of cumulative work experience in the last three years in one of the eligible occupations. Experience must be paid and full-time or an equivalent amount in part-time work in Ontario.
    • Seasonal work does not count.
  • Equivalent of Canadian secondary education or higher.
  • Valid certificate or license at time of application for any claimed work experience that requires it.
  • Minimum CLB/NCLC 4 in English or French in all language skills.
  • Live abroad or work, study or visit Canada with a valid permit;
  • Intention to settle in Ontario.
