At the November BJKC tournament in Seville, the Poles suffered two defeats: first against the Canadians (0:3), then against the Spaniards (1:2). The only match where White and Red finished victorious was the doubles match between Katarzyna Kawa and Martyna Kubka against Marina Bassols and Cristina Bucsa, finishing with the score 6:0, 6:7(2), 10-3.
Poland finished the competition in the group stage without a victory. Consequently, she did not qualify for the semi-finals and did not improve her points total in the world rankings. This resulted in a significant drop for the Whites and Reds in the nation rankings.
For the first time, Canadians won the Billie Jean King Cup. Thanks to their historic successes, Maple Leafs tennis players have risen to the top of the rankings. The North American players “pushed” the previous winners of the tournament, the Swiss. The Helvetii fall to third place.
