And even! Serbia beat Canada 95:86 in the first semifinal and will play for the gold medal at the World Championships. The Balkan team showed what a true collective means.
Serbia is rewriting history. And contrary to all predictions. He has already won two gold medals at the World Championships (1998, 2002) and a silver medal (2014), but before this World Cup, no one expected him to fight again for the highest goals. Among other things, because neither Nikola Jokić nor Vasilije Micić – the two biggest stars – are currently in the team.
Meanwhile, the Balkan team has no plans to stop after reaching the semi-finals. He’s already in the grand finale!
Before the match, Canada, which had eliminated Spain and Slovenia, was the bookies’ favorite. But Serbia quickly showed that they didn’t care: after the first quarter, they led 23:15. And then it got even better.

Svetislav Pesic’s players controlled events on the field, in the middle of the fourth quarter they led 86:71, finally triumphing brilliantly 95:86.
The Serbs arrested the Canadian leader. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was helpless. He played for 34 minutes, but in that time he scored 15 points on four of eight attempts from the field and had nine assists. He didn’t have many chances to shoot because the opponents covered him very well.
The other NBA players didn’t save the day either – neither RJ Barrett (23 points) nor Dillon Brooks (16 points). The Canadians were also outplayed in front of the basket – they recovered just 22 balls.
Serbia have shown that they are a real team. Balkan players got up to 62%. objectives on the ground. Bogdan Bogdanović excelled scoring 23 points. Midfielder Nikola Milutinov added 16, making all six attempts from the field. Ognjen Dobric also scored the same number of points.
The Serbians will play in the grand final against the winner of the United States-Germany match.
