Incredible triumph for Su-Wei Hsieh and Xinyu Wang at Roland Garros 2023 in Paris! In the final, the Taiwanese recovering from health problems and her Chinese partner came back after losing the first set and beating Leylah Fernandez and Taylor Townsend.
Su-Wei Hsieh was absent from the professional courts throughout last season due to health issues. She returned to the game at the end of April 2023. She had great moments at Roland Garros. She co-starred with Xinyu Wang. On Saturday, the Taiwanese and Chinese triumphed with a 6-1, 7-6(5), 6-1 victory over Leylah Fernandez and Taylor Townsend.

The second batch was very tight. Fernandez and Townsend made three saves on set point at 3-5 and 0-40. The Canadian and American won three straight and took a 6-5 lead. In the end, it was a tiebreaker. In it, Hsieh and Wang 2-3 won five of seven straight points.

Fernandez has already made a Grand Slam singles final. At the 2021 US Open, she lost to Britain’s Emma Raducan. In Paris, she recorded the first final of an event of this rank in doubles. Townsend reached the title match for the second time. At the 2022 US Open, her partner was Caty McNally. The Americans lost to Czechs Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova.
Wang, 21, has had a lifetime of success in professional tennis. She had never played in a Grand Slam final before. The experienced Hsieh won her fifth triumph in a competition of this scale, the second in Paris (2014 with Shuai Peng). Additionally, she has won Wimbledon three times (2012 with Peng, 2019 with Barbora Strycova, 2021 with Elise Mertens).
