– This is absolutely fantastic and quite silly. The whole situation is so crazy that I managed to keep calm, Kristoffer Sagmo Aalberg (35) tells NRK.
Many people know the nordtrønder from Barne-TV and Newton on NRK. Since 2011 he has been performing at the National Stage in Bergen, and it was there that he landed the role of Robin Hood himself in last year’s film. acclaimed performance “The heart of Robin Hood”.
Gisli Örn Gardarsson was an instructor for this spectacular production in London and Bergen and now wants to bring Aalberg also into productions in Canada and the United States.
– It is my favorite
Gardarsson will stage “Robin Hood’s Heart” in Winnipeg and Toronto from November to March. A production is then underway on Broadway itself in New York.
– Kristoffer was fantastic at DNS. That’s why I would like to take it to Canada and the United States in the coming year. He is my favorite, says Gardarsson Bergens Tidende.
In the middle of the holidays, Aalberg was suddenly asked to shoot one of the scenes from Robin Hood in English.
– I was a little out of training, but it went pretty well. We deal with a lot of transitions between dialects, and it will be a bit of the same thing, he told NRK.
American producers called Aalberg “brilliant” after seeing the tape of his audition. The challenge will be to get powerful actors’ unions to say yes to a guest actor from Europe, because actors from their home country enjoy preferential rights.
– Usually I get what I want, but it’s still early. We will perform in large, privately funded theaters. When someone spends seven million dollars on a project, they want their money back. Producers therefore have strong opinions, explains Gardarsson.
Nervous weeks
– This is a unique opportunity. We don’t often have the opportunity to perform in theater abroad. It’s easier with cinema and television, because it’s faster and there are different locations. In a play, you have to stay on the spot for a long time, explains Aalberg.
He assures that he is not yet tired of playing the hero wearing tights.
– We did around fifty concerts in Bergen, and it wasn’t difficult to get motivated each time. The piece is playful and physical, with a lot of humor and madness.
In the coming weeks, he will know if he will be allowed to play in Canada and the United States.
– Then he has to land. I’m going to play Sjur Gabriel in “Hellemyrsfolket” at the National Stage this fall, and we need to know if I can get time off and if a replacement can find me.

I will also try the film support
Aalberg’s next goal is to get a movie role. The challenge until now was that theater in Bergen took a long time and most of the castings and test shoots took place in Oslo.
– I spent a lot of energy establishing myself in the theater, now I want to try to achieve something in cinema and television. It’s interesting for an actor to see if he can also do well in this medium, he says.
The home-loving Harran actor recently had an assignment during the Olavsfest days in Trondheim and says he hopes to find more jobs in Trøndelag.
– I have never done anything at the Trøndelag Theater and I would very much like to come “home”.
