Team Canada is in the semi-finals of the 2024 World Para Ice Hockey Championships in Calgary, Alberta. On Tuesday, Canada beat the Czech Republic 5-1. With the victory, Canada improved its record to three wins and no losses after beating Japan 19-0 and Italy 10-0.

Three Canadians scored in the competition. Captain Tyler McGregor of Forest, Ont., and James Dunn of Wallacetown, Ont., each scored twice, while the other Canadian scorer was Liam Hickey of St. John's, Newfoundland. Meanwhile, five Canadians played a multi-point game. In addition to McGregor and Dunn who scored two goals each, Hickey had a goal and two assists for three points, Auren Halbert of Calgary, Alta., had two assists and Dominic Cozzolino of Kitchener, Ont., had three passes.

Canadian head coach Russ Herrington praised McGregor during his post-match press conference.

“Well, you talk about someone who puts in the work as a high-performance athlete, Tyler sets the standard for our group. I think it's good to see that it's paying off for him for his performance on the ice. I think one of the things that Tyler has done really well this year is learning to regulate his emotions and finding that level where he's intense, but still relaxed and balanced on the ice.

Canada now faces China in one of the two semi-finals. The United States faces the Czech Republic in the other semifinal.
