On Monday the ATP ranking was published, which takes into account the results obtained by tennis players within the framework of the Grand Slam of the US Open 2023. Many changes have taken place in the world top. What is the situation of Hubert Hurkacz?

The most important change is the one at the top of the world leaderboard. Novak Djokovic returned to the throne. On Sunday, the Serbian defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev in three sets and became the winner of the 2023 US Open Grand Slam (more information here). So, on Monday, he began the 390th week of his career as the world’s first racket.

Djokovic regains the lead

For his triumph in New York, “Nole” received 2,000 points because he did not compete last year. Thanks to this, he not only overtook Carlos Alcaraz, but also gained a significant advantage over him. “Carlitos” is 3,260 points behind Djokovic. The Spaniard defended his US Open title, but was eliminated in the semi-finals.

Daniil Medvedev strengthened his position on the lowest step of the podium. The Dane Holger Rune is fourth and the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas fifth. Russian Andrey Rublev moves up to sixth place. Last year’s US Open finalist, Norwegian Casper Ruud, moved from fifth to ninth place. German Alexander Zverev completes the top 10. Ben Shelton was ranked in the second 10 for the first time in his career. The American, after the semi-final in New York, advanced to 19th position.

Slight promotion of Hurkacz

Hubert Hurkacz won only one duel at the American international championships. Thus, the player from Wrocław did not improve on his result from last year and kept his total points. Despite this, the Pole rose Monday from 17th to 16th place. This is due to the fact that Briton Cameron Norrie, so far ranked just ahead of our representative, lost points.

The second member of the White and Red team, Kamil Majchrzak, remains suspended and cannot compete on professional courts. The Piotrków resident fell to 240th place on Monday. Daniel Michalski retains his 269th place. The next Poles on the list have moved up. Kacper Żuk is the 302nd racket in the world. Maks Kaśnikowski is 311th, Filip Peliwo 358th and Martyn Pawelski 478th.
