Magda Linette in the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami did better in doubles than in singles. The Pole, with Bernarda Pera, reached the doubles semi-final. At this point, after some real horror, they were stopped by Leylah Fernandez and Taylor Townsend.

Magda Linette ended the WTA 1000 tournament competition in Miami in the fourth round. Her friend Jessica Pegula turned out to be better at it. Despite this, the Pole remained in this city, because together with Bernarda Pera she competed in doubles.

The Polish-American duo reached the semi-finals of this event. The rivals on the way to the final were Canadian Leylah Fernandez and American Taylor Townsend. This pair fared much better in Miami than in Indian Wells, where they were eliminated in the 1/8 finals.

The start of this meeting was delayed by more than two hours. Indeed, Jannik Sinner needed three sets to eliminate Carlos Alcaraz. Linette and Pera’s hunger for the game was evident from the start. This duo was spinning like a pendolino in the first of this duel.

The rivals had nothing to say as they made a lot of mistakes, especially Townsend. The Pole and the American took advantage, breaking their opponents’ serve twice and leading until 5:0.

So closing this set seemed like a formality. In the sixth game, Fernandez and Townsend managed to hold the serve, thanks to which they improved their achievements. This one, however, was miserable anyway, as Linette and Pera won 6:1 after 21 minutes. They managed to use the ball from the first set.

The second set began with a break from the Canadian-American duo for hello. He saved two break points in the third game to quickly lead 3-0. However, this was the result of the opponents’ mistakes, rather than their excellent play.

In subsequent games, both pairs held their serves with confidence. However, when Linette and Pera were fighting to stay on set, Townsend put on a show. It was mainly his disposition that made the second set 6:2.

The end result was decided by a super tie break. However, in this meeting, the word horror was synonymous with it. We saw an even fight until the Canadian and American didn’t get a mini-break at 8-7. The duo could then end the match on their serve. Then, however, Linette put on a show.

Our tennis player first showed great net play. She then attacked Fernandez until she made a mistake and threw the ball. As a result, both games were saved and we carried on.

Townsend made a double error on the third match ball. On the other hand, Fernandez stood out with the fourth automatic game. Their inefficiency could be avenged, because eventually Linette and Pera stood out. When they had the opportunity to close the meeting, the Pole launched a return to the minimum.

A missed opportunity woke up the Canadian-American duo. It was he who scored the next three points, but a lot of help from Linette. It was his three consecutive errors that propelled Fernandez and Townsend to the final.

And there, even before the start of this match, American tennis players were already waiting. We’re talking about Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, who were seeded with number two. However, this duo has the best chance of winning early on as Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova retired.
