The world record holder won superbly by opening the season at the Bislett Games.
The time was a phenomenal 46.52, which is a new meeting record in the 400 meter hurdles at the Oslo Arena.
– I show that I am really up there again, Warholm told TV 2.
– It was fantastically good. It’s always fun when it happens like this, coach Leif Olav Alnes tells NRK.
Warholm’s world record is 45.94, set during the Tokyo Olympics. The first time Ulstein’s replacement set a world record was precisely in Bislett with a time of 46.70.
– I put pressure on my competitors and I show that I will also have a real impact this year. They have to rely on me. This is an important signal to send, says Warholm.
The super race means that he now also dares to think that it might be possible to do something with his own world record.
– I have never been so confident that I can approach this record again, as I have right now, reports Warholm.
The 27-year-old opened with a bang as usual. Going into the race, there was no doubt who was going to win. Warholm finally had more than a second to go over CJ Allen in second place.
