Oslo police report on Wednesday that they have received a report of a fire at the Haraldrud recycling station in Alnabru.
According to the police, an area of about 20 square meters of rubbish burned.
– Some detonations were heard in front of the fire. A battery may have exploded, police wrote in a 4:53 p.m. Twitter update.
It was first reported a risk of spread in connection with the fire. At 3:52 p.m., the police reported that the fire brigade had taken control and extinguished the “last vestiges of the fire”.
Nobody seems hurt.
The fire department informs TV 2 that an extinguisher system on site appears to have somewhat alleviated the fire.
– The situation is not clear at the moment. A bit unsure if there are open flames. There is a lot of smoke. We are there with 8 cars, shift commander Rune Elstad says at the fire station to TV 2.
– I’m a bit unsure as to the extent of the smoke spread, but I doubt it’s over large areas. But all smoke is dangerous, so you should stay away, he continues.
The recycling station is located close to Alna station and, according to the Oslo Municipality, accepts waste “that should not go under the kitchen counter”. Previously, the recycling facility was called Brobekk.
