Top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and defending champion Cameron Norrie advanced to the quarter-finals of the ATP 250 tournament on clay in Lyon without dropping a set. Mikael Ymer was disqualified for outrageous conduct.

Top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime faced Pablo Llamas in his inaugural match at the Lyon ATP tournament, for whom – including the playoffs – it was already his fourth duel on home courts. Despite the lack of play, the Canadian faced the inexperienced Spaniard and won 7:5, 6:2.

Aiger-Aliassime served six aces in 87 minutes and converted four of seven break points. In the 1/4 finals, the Canadian will face the holder of the wild card, Arthur Fils. The Frenchman eliminated Mikaeal Ymer, who was disqualified.

Ymer suffered a well-deserved punishment for his outrageous behavior after Game 11 ended, when he smashed his racket against the ref’s turret in frustration. Moments earlier, he got into an altercation with the table umpire, Rogerio Santos, and decided to defuse the tension in an absurd way.

Cameron Norrie also picked up a soft win. The reigning British No. 2 champion won 6-3, 6-4 over David Goffin in an hour and a half, registering five aces and three breaks.

Norrie’s opponent in the quarter-finals will be Sebastian Baez, the “six” of the tournament. The 22-year-old from Buenos Aires proved better than Pedro Cachin in the Argentina encounter in three sets.

Third-seeded Tommy Paul successfully completed his duel with Grégoire Barrère, which was interrupted on Tuesday due to rain. In the quarterfinals, the American will face his compatriot Brandon Nakashima, marked “eight”.
