The National Security Authority was hit by a computer attack

– NSM’s websites are down right now due to an ongoing denial of service attack, communications director Hasse Lindmo told VG at 11:30 a.m.

Earlier Thursday, NSM was able to confirm that it was aware of denial of service attacks against several Norwegian companies.

– Websites can be perceived as slow and inaccessible. This type of attack is often aimed at gaining attention and visibility, rather than causing harm, said Marit Hverven, the press watcher. The daily Thursday morning.

According to Hverven, NSM knows who claims to be behind it, but they are unwilling to comment on it. She also doesn’t want to say anything about the size of the attack.

Erik Haugland, department director at NSM and head of the National Cybersecurity Center, told NTB that it’s likely we’ll see more such data attacks in the future.

– Many Norwegian companies are well equipped to withstand denial of service attacks, but this is still a type of cyberattack we should expect in the future. NSM has repeatedly warned Norwegian companies against this type of attack, Haugland says.
