A Polish tennis player will participate in the Cleveland tournament (WTA 250). It is Magdalena Fręch, who will face the Italian Jasmine Paolini. Venus Williams, 43, was supposed to play with Mirra Andreeva, 27 years her junior, but pulled out of the event.

The opponent of Anna Blinkowa (n°8) will be China’s Lin Zhu. Sloane Stephens (No. 9) will face Lauren Davis in the clash of the Americans. Venus Williams, 43, was due to play against Mirra Andreyeva, 27 years her junior, but the American legend, former number one in the rankings and winner of seven Grand Slam singles titles, withdrew from the tournament. Her place was taken by Tamara Korpatsch, who lost in qualifying to Fręch.
