TRONDHEIM/OSLO (Dagbladet): On Thursday afternoon, a teenage girl lost her life after a collision between a car and a moped near Beistad in Steinkjer.
Police received a report of the traffic accident on county road 6982 near Beistad in Steinkjer at 3:25 p.m.
There were two girls in the moped. The other girl, then a teenager, was airlifted to St. Olav’s Hospital in Trondheim.
Innherred Police Investigations Officer Kjetil Mollan tells Dagbladet that the other girl is seriously injured. Police are now working to care for relatives and those involved after the crash.
Mollan does not wish to comment at this time on what is your possible hypothesis after the accident. Forensic technicians and the National Highway Administration accident team worked at the scene of the accident on Thursday.
Crisis team
Mayor of Steinkjer, Anne Berit Lein, yesterday expressed her grief over the accident.
– It was a dramatic traffic accident that had a tragic outcome, and with young people affected. It is absolutely awful and my thoughts are with the family and other members of the circle of friends. My thoughts are also with the person who was airlifted to hospital and hope they are well. We follow all the routines, Lein told Dagbladet.
She said on Friday that the municipality’s crisis team has been there since the accident and is monitoring those affected.
The municipality set up a hotline on Friday, which is operated by the Mental Health and Addictions Unit.
– Individuals or groups of friends can get in touch there if they want to talk to someone, and who is used to dealing with such incidents.
Brutal
The incident affects the municipality of Steinkjer, says Lein.
“A traffic accident involving young people, who are our future, of course affects us,” says Lein, who calls it all brutal, and does not dare to think about what it means for those most affected.
This is not the first time that a tragic event has hit Trønder Municipality this year.
In early April, Sigve Bremset (21) was killed when a man in his 30s rammed into a crowd on a sidewalk in Steinkjer. A few days later, an octogenarian woman died when the car she was in ended up in the Steinkjerelva.
The mayor encourages those who need it to get in touch.
– It’s important to talk. You can talk to your friends and relatives, but it can also be good to contact someone who is a professional in this field.
