Polish volleyball players are back in the game. On Wednesday the Americans won a sensational 3:0, while on Friday they will face the Canadians. Although this is theoretically an easier task, there can be no question of underestimating the rivals. Broadcast of the match Poland – Canada on Polsat Sport and Polsat Box Go.
In the first group stage, the Canadians were placed in group C. At the very beginning, two clashes of infernal difficulty awaited them – with the Serbs (0:3) and the Americans (0:3). Later, however, they won the next three matches (against Kazakhstan, Bulgaria and Germany) and qualified for the second phase.
In it, they ended up in Group F. So far, they have played two matches there. First they beat Thailand 3-1 and then lost 3-0 to Turkey. They currently sit fifth in the standings, which doesn’t guarantee a bye to the quarter-finals. If they want to stay in the game for this phase, they need a win against the tournament co-hosts.
Polish women, because we are talking about them, are in fourth place – the last giving promotion to the 1/4 finals. However, they don’t have a secure lead, so they will also fight with all their might for victory.
Wednesday’s triumph over the Olympic champions poured into the hearts of Stefano Lavarini’s players an extra dose of motivation and self-confidence. “The whole game brings us joy at the moment, and sometimes it’s hard to do it. Now each of us is happy to be together on the pitch – center Agnieszka Korneluk told the Polsat Sport camera .
Former volleyball player Aleksandra Jagieło also trusts the national team, which won the European championship twice in white and red colors. – We are a national team which is created before our eyes under the leadership of a new coach. A cool group has been created and I believe it will give us many emotions in the years to come. You can see that she has great potential, since she can win against the Olympic champions. That’s why I think playing eight would be a great achievement. The Polish fans again showed that they are the best in the world, the cheers carried us away and I remembered the matches of the European Championships in 2009 – said Jagieło.
