120 homes across much of Fall and Holmen will be evacuated Tuesday evening.

– This is undoubtedly the largest evacuation in the municipality during extreme weather conditions, says the councilor South LandArne Skogsbakken.

The municipality said earlier on Tuesday that it feared a breach of the Trevatna dam.

Vokks Kraft AS, owner of the dam, claims on Tuesday evening that this is not the case.

– V isn’t afraid he’ll burst. The problem was that we had to ensure that the effect of a large discharge of water was managed further down the river, explains group director Ole Gunerius Farmen of the Vokksgruppen.

He points out that they cannot surprise residents with a large amount of water suddenly coming down the river.

– There is a strong flood and the flow entering the reservoir is very important. There will be river damage and water damage, he said.

HIGH WATER SUPPLY: It continues to rain.

Skogsbakken says Oppland Arbeiderblad that more water is pouring into Fallselva than ever before.

– We haven’t had any landslides yet, but the water is rising very quickly, he says.

– Not voluntarily

– We in crisis management have just made a drastic decision, says Mayor Anne Hagenborg in a video shared on the municipality’s Facebook page.

The municipality writes on Facebook that the municipality’s crisis management, police, fire and rescue, geologists and Vokks have carried out assessments and that the police have decided to carry out the evacuation by targeted SMS in certain parts of Fall and Holmen.

– This concerns 120 addresses. The evacuation is not voluntary. Civil protection is on site. They contribute to the evacuation, and must also follow the evolution along the river if other discharges occur.

– We have to go door to door and we just don’t have time to talk to the people involved, explains Skogsbakken to Oppland Arbeiderblad.

– Not secure

Skogsbakken told VG that the municipality is now trying to prevent the dam from bursting.

– What do the geologists who have assessed the area say?

– They say we’re not safe here anymore. We no longer see what the consequences are. But they see the same thing as us, the water level rises a lot hour by hour, Skogsbakken tells VG.

It is still raining and the water level continues to rise despite the spillage of a lot of water.
