2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships team revealed

Athletics Canada is pleased to unveil its roster of athletes who will represent the Maple Leaf at the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, next March.

Canada will field five teams (U20 women’s and men’s, Open women’s and men’s and a mixed relay team) including two Olympians, 10 World Cross Country Championship veterans, several national champions and high-level university athletes.

“I am particularly excited about the dynamic mix of experience and new talent within our team. We have athletes for whom these championships represent a flagship event, while others will use it as an opportunity to gain a valuable experience on the world stage. We also have Some people view this as a strategic stepping stone in their journey to the Paris Olympics later in the summer,” said team leader Heather Hennigar.

The competition on March 30 will take place in Friendship Park on the banks of the Danube in the heart of Belgrade, which also hosted the 2013 European Championships.

“Coaches and athletes will work diligently over the coming months to ensure that each athlete’s preparation aligns with their specific goals, whether that be peak performance in Belgrade or a broader strategy leading to the Olympics,” Hennigar said.
