There was a storm surrounding the former Rødt frontman after it became known that he had taken a pair of sunglasses from a store in Gardermoen, without paying for them.

Bjørnar Moxnes has been on sick leave since July 3. On Wednesday, NTB reported that sick leave will not be extended.

– He has vacation until July 31 inclusive and resumes his work as an MP from August 1, writes Rødt’s head of press and communications, Linn-Elise Øhn Mehlen, in an SMS to the agency Press.

Last week, the sick leave was extended by one week, until July 25 inclusive. On Monday this week, Moxnes resigned as party leader.

The day before his sick leave was due to expire, he therefore resigned from his position as director at Rødt.

Moxnes will continue as a member of Rødt and as a parliamentary representative.

Rødt’s deputy leader, Marie Sneve Martinussen, succeeds Bjørnar Moxnes as interim party leader.
